So I researched weight vests a TON and had it down to the TRX vest and this one. I took a chance on this vest when it first came out, and I’m super happy that I did!!! I was looking for a vest that was comfortable and had adjustable weights, and I really think this vest is the best out there for those two elements – it is definitely worth the extra cash over the cheaper vests.I primarily use the vest for dog walking – we got a Doodle during Covid, and the 45 minute daily walk I take with him replaced my daily workout so I was trying to burn some more calories on the walk. This vest allows me to do that perfectly! The weight adjustability was awesome – I started with 20 lbs and worked my way up to 33 over a few weeks. I also will wear this vest when doing stuff around the house – mowing the lawn, cleaning the house on Saturday morning, etc… I love how it allows me to sneak in a light workout when I’m super busy. One of the best features of the vest is the silicone weights – pretty much all other weight vests either use iron or sand. These silicone weights are super thin and flexible, which allows me to layer the vest comfortably under my jacket. After a few minutes, I actually forget that I’m wearing it. Also, when my jacket is zipped, you can’t even tell I’m wearing it, which I love!I also like that when I don’t wear it with a jacket, it doesn’t look tactical – a lot of the other weight vests make the wearers look like they’re law enforcement or military, and this one just looks…pretty normal. I also like the fact that the weights are distributed across the entire torso, rather than bunching up around the neck/shoulder area, like so many others.I’m 6’2 / 185, and the vest fits me perfectly. I’ve also used the vest for light jogging and for HIIT training sessions. Again, it’s really comfy (for a weight vest), and I’ve been super happy at how it’s worked for all those things. My only recommendations would to maybe make the shoulder straps more robust – I haven’t had any issues with mine over the past three months, but I’m interested to see how they’ll hold up over time. The velcro flaps that hold each weight in each pouch also seem a bit thin, but again, I haven’t actually had any issues with them either, but if they put out a 2.0 version, I would recommend making those two changes. Everything else is pretty much perfect! If you’re a hard-core athlete, and have the extra cash, I’d also take a look at the TRX vest, but if you’re someone who just wants to occasionally use a vest to help stay in shape, and prioritize comfort, I think this vest is a huge step up from the sand/iron vests, and is definitely worth the extra investment!
