  • I ordered the 32 pound version of this vest, and probably the most important thing to know about it is that it really is large. I’m female and on the taller side, 5’9″ tall, broad shoulders and swimmer build, and I would say it is a bit too long for me, especially because it’s heavy. The heavier version, combined with the stretchy material, tends to elongate it even more, so even with the side straps at their maximum tightness, the waitedback of the vest ever so slightly bounces against the top of my butt, which is not ideal. That pretty much rules out running, so instead I stick to brisk walking on streets and Hills, averaging between seven and 9 miles each time. By the last 2 miles, it really feels like a slug, and within a few hours, you definitely get that “leg day” feeling. It’s a great way to add some resistance training to your cardio, and it has helped to push me over a bit of a plateau tackling these last few pounds that stand between me and my preferred lean and mean weight.I think if you are 511 or taller, this vest will work for you, but if you are petite or even just shorter than that, you may find that it either sits too long on you, or that the straps can’t be tightened enough around your torso to stay snug as you move. But I’m not sure what is involved in the manufacturing process of this vest to produce the incredibly noxious smell that persists despite the fact that I store it outside. Anything I wear it with has to be washed, sometimes twice. I worry about it touching my skin, because there is no way anything that smells like that can be safe. I don’t think I’m overstating it; our senses are there to tell us when something is unsafe and nothing should smell this poisonous for this long.So although I am using it and liking it in many ways, I do treat it like it’s a bit radioactive, and shower immediately after using it! A friend of mine tried to much lighter weighted vest and found she didn’t really like it, so she gave it to me. While made of seemingly similar materials, ithas a barely perceptible odor, so I can say that it is possible to get a vest that doesn’t smell like it was made with nefarious intent. [...]
